Why a Micro scooter?

Micro scooters have a well thought-out design and are characterized by their quality and durability. Young children can easily scoot away on their three-wheeled Micro scooter because of its intuitive design. Micro is a Swiss brand and the inventor of both the compact folding scooter and the Kickboard scooters with two wheels at the front. Once you have had a Micro scooter you will never want anything else.

Mini or Maxi for your child?

We recommend the Mini Micro for children from 2 years (or from 12 months with the Mini seat) and the Maxi Micro for children from 5 years. If your child is 4 years old we would normally recommend the Mini, though they could possibly already use the Maxi. There are several factors to consider when making your choice. The most important is the weight of your child. If your child is less than 20kg, it is easier to steer the Mini than the Maxi. The Mini is 1kg lighter than the Maxi which makes it easier for younger children to carry and to use. The Maxi has an extendable steering column, the Mini's is fixed. The lowest position on the Maxi is approxiamately the same height as the Mini. If you have a younger child who will also use (or later take over) the scooter then the Mini is perhaps the better choice to begin with. We know children as young as 18 months who love their scooter and children up to 7 years old who are still using the Mini.

Mini Micro
from 2 to 6 years
weighs 1.5kg
suitable for children up to 27kg (steering is optimised up to this weight but it is strong enough for a load up to 35kg)
handle bar is fixed at 67cm (Classic) or adjustable from 48-68cm (Deluxe)

Maxi Micro
from 5 to 12 years
weights 2.5kg
suitable for children from 18kg up to 50kg (steering is optimised for this weight range but it is strong enough for a load up to 80kg)
handle bar can be raised from 68cm to 92cm

What makes the Mini Micro scooter unique?

The Mini Micro is one of the most stable scooters on the market as it has two wheels at the front and one at the back. More traditional scooters have a rotating wheel at the front which leads to a loss of stability as soon as the child turns the handle bars. The Mini Micro scooter wheels swivel when the child leans to one side, quickly enabling children to develop balance, coordination and motor skills.

The Mini Micro scooter is suitable for year round use – the urethane wheels won’t leave black marks on the floor. Children can use them inside and outside. The solid construction gives a smooth and quiet ride.

What is the age range?

We recommend the Mini Micro Deluxe from 2 years and above, up to around 6 years. We do know 18m olds who are already proficient scooters! With the seat the scooter can be used from 12 months and up. The Mini Micro Classic is suitable from 3 years.

How to assemble the Mini or Maxi Micro scooter

The Mini and Maxi Micro scooters are easy to assemble and takes just a few seconds! Lay the deck of the scooter on the ground, wheel side down. The end opposite the handle bars needs to be inserted in the hole at the front of the deck. Note that the hole on the deck has one side that is flat. Note too that the tube end of the t-bar handle also has a hole with one side that is flat. Match up the flat sides of the t-bar handle and the deck hole. Pop the t-bar handle into the deck - push until you hear or feel a click. If you give the t-bar a tug and it feels secure, then assembly is complete!

How to remove the T-bar from the Mini or Maxi Micro

To dissemble the deck and t-bar, turn the deck over so you are looking at the underside of the scooter. You will see a red pin on the right hand side - this is the locking mechanism that keeps the t-bar and deck together. Simply push in the pin and pull the handle bar out.

How to steer the 3 wheel Micro scooters

The Mini and Maxi Micro have a unique steering mechanism, referred to as ‘lean-and-steer’. It is probably the biggest single reason kids love this scooter, but if you are not familiar with it, it can be a little confusing at first. Rest assured that virtually all children learn to steer the scooter quickly, easily and intuitively. To operate the ‘lean-and-steer’ children simply lean slightly to the right to curve right or to the left to curve left. The wheels will pivot to allow the scooter to gently turn to the right or left - it is not a right angle turn. For kids this makes a scooter ride more fun, it feels like they are surfing the pavement! Children of all ages may at first simply scoot in a straightforward direction - the ‘lean-and-steer’ mechanism is unique so it is quite likely to be new to them, but this does not usually seem to bother them, they simply ride the scooter in straight lines and gradually they pick up how the steering works. The time required varies with age but most children it comes quite easily. Children as young as 18 months have been known to operate this proficiently, but it may take a couple months for that to develop. The videos of children demonstrating the scooter on our website should help.

How to assemble the Micro G-bike

The Micro G-bike only needs the steering bar to be attached. Using the allen keys provided, undo the two bolts next to the Micro logo at the top of the front wheel shaft. Insert the steering bar and retighten the bolts. Assembly is complete!

How to change the saddle height/steering height

The saddle can be raised and lowered easily by opening the catch under the seat and closing it tightly at the desired level. The steering can be raised/lowered by using an allen key to loosen the bolt on the top of the steering shaft and tightening at the desired height.
